Knowledge

Frequently asked

Which plants do bees love most?

It depends on the bee. Honeybees go for shallow, open flowers (calendula, achillea, scabious). Bumblebees prefer tubular flowers (lupins, foxgloves, comfrey). Solitary bees love single-flowered varieties of pretty much everything. The collection covers all three.

When should I plant for bees?

Year-round, but with planning. Plant spring bulbs in autumn for early nectar, perennials in autumn or spring for summer flowering, and late bloomers like sedum and asters for autumn forage.

Do bee-friendly plants need different care?

Generally not. The bigger difference is what you don't do: avoid pesticides, leave seed heads up over winter, and let a corner go slightly wild if you can.
