Frequently asked
Quick answers to the questions everyone has before ordering plants.
For specific care questions on a plant you already own, the free Season 28 app has the right answer for your variety — search for your plant in the app first.
Below: the things people ask us most often. Grouped by topic so you can jump to the right bit. If your question isn't here, drop us a line — there's a contact form linked at the bottom.
Ordering & Delivery
How much is delivery?
Standard UK delivery is £6.50. Orders over £75 ship free. Delivery to Highlands and Islands is £14.50 — we'll show you the exact figure at checkout.
When will my plants arrive?
We pack and ship Tuesday and Thursday so nothing sits in a warehouse over the weekend. You'll get a despatch email with tracking the day your order goes out.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Not at the moment. UK only, including Northern Ireland and most offshore islands. We'll let people know when this changes.
What if I'm not home when the courier arrives?
Royal Mail and DPD will either re-attempt the next working day or leave the parcel in a safe place if you've set one up with them. Plants are well-protected for short waits.
Plant health & arrival
What condition will my plant arrive in?
Well-rooted, hand-checked before despatch, in plastic-free packaging. Most plants are sent in their growing pot and will be ready to either pot on or plant straight into the ground.
What if my plant arrives damaged?
Email us at hello@season28.co.uk with a photo within 48 hours of receipt. We'll replace it or refund — no quibble. Plants are living things and rare upsets do happen; we cover that.
Do you guarantee plants will survive?
Every plant ships healthy and is covered against arrival damage. Long-term survival depends on conditions and care, so we don't guarantee that — but the free Season 28 app exists specifically to help. Use it.
The app
Is the app really free?
Yes, with every order, no card required. Download it, log in with the email you used to order, and your plants are added automatically.
Do I need to be a customer to use the app?
Customers get extra features (plant tracking, care history, Plant Doctor priority) but a basic version of the identification tool and care library is open to anyone.
What devices does the app work on?
iOS and Android. Tablet and phone. There's a webapp version too.
Returns
Can I return a plant?
Yes — within 14 days of receipt for unopened products, or for damaged-on-arrival plants regardless. We don't accept returns for plants that have been in your care more than 14 days; living plants change too quickly to be resold.
How do I start a return?
Email us at hello@season28.co.uk with your order number. We'll send instructions and arrange a return label.
Refunds?
Refunded to the original payment method within 5 working days of us receiving the return.
Account & gift cards
Do I need an account to order?
No. Guest checkout works fine. But signing in lets the app track your plants and gives you faster checkout next time.
How do gift cards work?
Digital gift cards, any denomination from £20, delivered by email at a date of your choosing. No expiry on Season 28 gift cards.
Do you do trade pricing?
Yes, for landscapers, garden designers, and commercial buyers. See the Trade page for the application form.
