Knowledge

Frequently asked

Which plants flower longest through summer?

Reliable long-flowerers include calibrachoa, geum, salvia, dianthus and most pelargoniums — these will keep going from June into October with regular deadheading.

When should I plant summer-flowering plants?

Hardy summer-flowerers can go in any time from autumn through to early summer. Tender bedding needs to wait until after the last frost — usually mid to late May.

Do summer flowers need a lot of watering?

Depends whether they're in the ground or in containers. Container plants need daily checks in hot weather. A good morning soaking carries them through most heatwaves.
