The detail
Cornus alba 'Elegantissima' is a stunning variegated dogwood prized for its year-round interest. Throughout spring and summer, this elegant shrub produces beautiful grey-green leaves adorned with irregular creamy-white margins, bringing a bright, airy feel to borders and garden beds. As autumn arrives, the foliage takes on subtle warm tones before falling to reveal the plant's other standout feature — vivid, deep red stems that provide striking colour throughout the winter months.
In late spring to early summer, clusters of small creamy-white flowers appear, followed by white to bluish-white berries in autumn that are enjoyed by birds and garden wildlife. This hardy, reliable shrub is easy to grow and responds well to hard pruning in early spring, which encourages a flush of fresh, vibrant new stems for the following winter.
