Knowledge
Frequently asked
When can I plant bedding plants outdoors?
Wait until after the last frost in your area — usually mid to late May across most of the UK, slightly earlier in the south, slightly later in the north. Until then, keep new bedding plants somewhere bright and frost-free.
Will bedding plants come back next year?
Most are grown as annuals in the UK, completing their life in one summer. Some, like pelargoniums and trailing lobelia, can be overwintered in a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory.
How often should I water bedding plants in containers?
Daily in hot weather, every other day in milder spells. Container plants dry out faster than ground-planted ones, especially in hanging baskets. A liquid feed every fortnight keeps them flowering all season.
